Poster produced for the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), showing the SS ‘Don’ docked at the inland port of Goole, East Riding, Yorkshire, where a crane is seen loading coal onto the ship. Goole, on the River Ouse, carried a large trade in the export of coal and was the Humber Port from which the LMS fleet of cargo steamers sailed for the major continental ports.
